Y E S T E R D A Y…

Wow, what an amazing day out. I took myself to the #lynetteyiadomboakye exhibition at the #tatebritainlondon after a little detour to the Hayward Gallery by mistake, don’t ask…

After realising I’d gone to the wrong museum, I decided to take the bus to the right one. The bus is a joy!, the journey, the sights, the people  – especially the guy singing was a glorious start. #lovelondon.

I’ve shared a few of my favourite paintings from the exhibition, however do go to really experience it you for yourself.

Now and then...

As I came to the end of the exhibition I wondered over to the Henry Tate Gallery. Taking in the works of art of old, is an emotional experience knowing the suffering of our ancestors at that time, a time when the idea that an African artist held in such esteem, even as a concept would never have been heard of.

I turned to look back in the other room, the moment the significance of the standing in the room of old looking at the works new was poignant.

I was struck by how the suggested emotion of the scene didn't seem to reach the subjects eyes. Were they really this joyful and happy at this time?

My day ended with a giggle filled evening with a friend from Canada. After a few glasses of prossecco, and a couple of other mixers later, I got home, happy as Larry and got my pencil and paper out and decided to draw before bed.

At the time I thought it was ok, but when I looked at it in the morning I was pleasantly surprised – I was really pleased! lol
