Watford Fringe – Gila and Michael

A Beautiful Meeting

I always find it wonderful when over a short period of time, you can go from people being perfect strangers to solidifying a connection.

I often come across the phrase we are all connected and I really do believe this to be true. Paths cross and over night you become a member of the cast in the story of their life.

for Goodness what can I say, I was taken to a place of pure beauty. Gila’s voice softly sends you into a blissful melodic state of joy, whilst Michaels rich slightly accented notes harmonise beautifully to create an experience I wasn’t expecting.

With their sound leaning into a folk Jazz, story telling is at the heart of their original material. Song lyrics that call you to connect with our inner nature and to remember our hand in nature for the good and the bad.

"Your love puts me at the top of your world"

Music is said to be the language of love and I’m reminded of this as Michael recounts a story of a time and a place where 7 languages were spoken, where there was no prejudice and coexistance was the message. He leads us into a song sung in Spanish which subtly merges in Hebrew.

As the evening drew to a close the duo captured the energy and atmosphere of the audience by ending on some popular crowd favourites, Free Falling by Tom Petty and a classic California Dreaming.

The Fringe has come to an end for this year but if you get chance, I urge you to go and see this wonderful local musical duo.
