AMANARTIS CHAPTERS – 1 – In the Beginning

Artist interviews – designer/MAKERS – New at Amanartis Studios.

IN THE BEGINNING

There was a bathroom Showroom on Queens Road called Tucker French. In this showroom were no baths showers or the usual stuff you’d expect to find, no there was just a very enthusiastic Arts Development Officers named Sophie Ronson (at the time) who welcomed me in and spoke about the Pop-Up exhibition she had installed and how I could get involved.

Already a fan of Watford only having moved there months earlier, I was now every excited at the alternative side of Watford that I had stumbled upon.

THE OLD FREE SCHOOL - 2013

This is where it all began. What do you think? Do you think you can do something with this? Can I? l’d have taken anything so to be presented with this beautiful building I was thrilled.

Next find some other people equally thrilled about the potential art space.

The entrance to this beautiful building. Funny enough it’s also opposite a cemetery.

A moment hands free, with my daughter in the safe hands of Sophie Cordery a local artist. My daughter was 8 months old when I started out on this mission.

Blessed with another beautiful building with so much character, the idea back then was to divide this central area to provide desk space.

Space. I’d have taken anything, but this was a great place with work with.

With lick of paint and life –  an artist space was created. Work by Shoshana Gilmore.

Divided in two, this was a lovely shared space.

CROXLEY BUSINESS PARK

Where this is space there is always potential. My daughter, now a toddler making the most of it.

There’s always been a need for space to create. Somewhere you can be, step away then return as if you never left.

Hopefully more on this scale to come…

AND THEN NOTHING FOR THE NEXT 4.5 YEARS

Until now...
