Creating The Ad You Want to See
Are you hungry?
Based on the majority of ads that we see, it’s as if we need reminding to eat.
Creating the ‘Ad You Want To See’ exhibition was born out of the desire to be inspired to
do something other than to consume.
On a short 10mins journey, I was struck by the nature of ads and the persistent prompt to
buy food.
At a time in the world where we are fed endless options, there is little time to really
consider anything with real depth, anytime to refect on our deepest desires, a space to
know what is at our core, and time to discover and truly know how to live our best lives.
Ads are powerful, we’ve seen how they can be used to create change, sometimes not the
change we want to see.
So my question is, what ad would you like to see? Do you feel that the messages you’re
receiving have your best interest at heart, who really benefts from the products that we’re
told we need to make our lives better, under the promise of cheaper, faster, safer or
easier. For who I wonder?
Art, one of the long standing mediums in which to express ourselves, connect with others
and create change freely. Each and everyone of us has the ability and power to afect
change, art is just one way in which to do so.
As artists, our call is to create, inspire and bring joy. The brief was fundamentally simple,
what would you like someone to do once they’ve seen your ad?
If you could afect change or bring about an emotion in someone, what would it be?
Why don’t you create the ad that you would like to see.
