Features
Creating space and all it encompasses, is at the heart of Amanartis.
When you commit to express your thoughts, emotions or a story through creating art, the intention is to bring what exists in your mind to life and share it with others, with the belief that there is joy to be had, and a mutual exchange of love – a love for the work and the for the creation.
Coming in September to on of the flexible studio spaces is an artist who’s work caught my eye through a mutual love of the medium. Her work is subtle and elegant and sure to draw you in through her use of form and depth.
Showing for one month is Amal. Visit to discover more.
Workshops
I'm running a workshop!
Introduction to the
House of Amma - a Philosophy
Coming soon at the Chapel
A large part of Amanartis is the engagement I experience with the public, the conversations I have with people of all ages and stages of their create endeavours or life in general and I love it.
I was once asked what brings me joy – inspiring people does, in the form of writing, creating, baking, making – if I can share an insight or experience that lights a fire in you then, I’ve served my purpose.
The back ground to this workshop is posted mostly on my Amma Gyan Art site where you can read more about what I’ll be sharing in conversation on tips and methods that I’ve put into practice that have helped me live and create life of my choice for over 20 years.
Price: £15

Exhibitions
You are welcome and invited to step into the Inner Worlds of Laura James; an exciting emerging artist based in Watford.
Presented by Amanartis, Laura James’ debut solo exhibition will run from Feb 8th – March 8th at the Amanrtis Gallery, Level 1 above upper the Upper Mall of Atria.
Working predominantly in water-based mediums, Laura James creates an emotive terrain of “imagined landscapes” that emerge through an evocative colour palette and strong textural feel.
Often intimate and mysterious, Laura’s paintings tap into a dreamlike world that hovers between the familiar and the unknown.
At this showcase of Laura’s main body of work, viewers are be invited to seek their own interpretations of the Inner Worlds on display.
Artwords
There are very few books that I’ve read that moved me enough to reach the final page, take a breath and return to the beginning, to read the book all over again – but that’s exactly what happened when I finished ‘Their Eyes Were Watching God’ by Zora Neale Hurston.
There are so many wonderful moments that I would love to share, but the over whelming moment for me was a line that resonated so deeply that I wanted to capture the moment it took my breath away, the moment it made me throw my head back, close my eyes and say yes – I know that feeling.
The words were beautiful, validating and breathtaking. Could this moment be captured in an image or were the words alone enough to communicate that powerful moment. I think so.
Have you read something that truly moved you? A line that you return to again again or one that never leaves you?

‘Artwords’ Amanartis at the Atria Gallery
After many years of designing for her own fashion accessory brand, Amma Gyan has returned to her first love, art. Combing her love of textiles and focusing on texture and hue Amma’s exhibition that is now showing at the Chapel begins the journey home, exploring the emotions and events that challenge us, stepping into uncomfortable places in our hearts and minds and seeing the beauty that can come of it .
Collaborating is key, lets come together to create something beautiful, chic, inspiring and unique. A destination like no other where you find real treasure made by talented, imaginative, skilled and driven designers, artists and makers. Think Charlie and the Chocolate factory but with Handmade products and original art – wouldn’t it be wonderful, let’s make it happen.
If you think you have a product that would add to the Amanartis Store at Atria then get in touch.

After you’ve taken in the art, browse the items in the shop, you can stop for a coffee and something to eat from our coffee station.
Creativity can be expressed in so many forms, from time to time I like to get a little experimental with a creative bake such as my Pea, Lime and Coconut cake. You’ll love it trust me.

Amanartis the venue
One of the many things that I love about the studio is it’s ability to transform, not only people’s mood which is becoming quite a powerful gift but also the flexibility of the space.
It’s the perfect venue for intimate gigs, product launches, workshops and informal meetings.
